A Traditional Spices Mixed Jamalac (Jambu) Cake
Recipe for Cinnamon & Jamalac Upside Down Cake make a great holiday centerpiece. It’s a moist, fruity cake that’s perfect for dessert or an indulgent treat.
Jamalac is also known as Java Apple (Jambu in Sri Lanka) and it has red shiny skin layer and inside is soft as mushrooms also the combination of Jamalac & Cinnamon makes a heavenly taste. This amazing upside down cake is not only scrumptious, but it’s really simple to make as well.
This amazing cake was introduced by Chef Jagath for the Nature Spices Cooking Demonstration as the first recipe and we decided it should be the first episode of the second season of the show when we had the chance to taste the cake during the season two shoot. The cake was much tastier than the usual Apple & Cinnamon Upside Down cake and the production crew was amazed with its taste.
One of the reasons to introduce this recipe was it’s a simple recipe because not everyone usually bake cakes from scratch if they only has a hand blender. That is not going to be a problem because believe it or not, upside down cake is really easy to make and there isn’t any fancy equipment needed.
To make it you start with the syrupy topping which is made by just melting butter, brown sugar and cinnamon together. You add it to the pan followed by the apples.
Leave it to cool for 5 minutes before turning it out on to a cake plate. Jamalac & Cinnamon Upside Down Cake is definitely best served warm, but it’s pretty yummy cooled as well!
